Yay could shrink it down to 285mb with VidCoder without a great quality loss. Phew… thought I had to get/wait for the (bad) Yibis release.
Also it seems your website has some problems as I have a hard time connecting to Kousei. Most of the time I get ’500 Internal Server’ errors.

@novusrequiem The file is big because the episode is big. Lots of movement = big files. Nothing we can really do about it.

@baka I just have to pick up the mountain of slack that’s kicking about the place, that’s all. Also, Ben has assignments and presentations to do so I have to do extra to help him out.

@dhom I’ve not received an e-mail from you that I can see. Ben is in charge of recruitments though. But, we’re not really interested in hiring anyone that doesn’t have intermediate to advanced Aegisub skills. Of course, if you have the skills then get in touch with Ben13.

@bassam2019 Buggy the Clown arc is in the very last stages of Quality Control. Release should be fairly soon. The new speed only really applies to current episodes of Once Piece. It’s to give Ben and myself more time through the week for our other commitments, like work and study.

@clivesite Ben13 is the captain really. The fact that I do everything should be indicative of that! XD j/k However, I will take Monkey D. Hattori as a huge compliment. Thank you. : )

@Shirahama D. Ginko Yes, this arc should be a lot, lot better than Fishman Island.

@Xenol55 Not sure what you mean by Kaizoku episode, but the file is large because of the snow that covers the screen for 60% of the episode. I’ve had a few 500 errors too, but it seems to have stopped now. Not sure about that, but I’ll look into it.

@roger’s father It’s because of the bit depth. Essentially, 10bit has more colours to choose from, the palette is much smoother as the colours blend from one to the other. You can Google the details yourself, but 10bit usually means a smaller file size, the trade off being that more processing power is required. But, the image is usually noticeably more detailed than 8bit and colour transitions are much smoother.

I know it’s very rude to just cut and paste a response, but this is basically the best advice I can give for learning how to do any fansubbing.
First, go here:

If english is not your native language then google an alternative.

Afterwards, move onto this:

Then follow the guide from there.
The single most important page is this one: http://docs.aegisub.org/manual/ASS_Tags
Learning and understanding how the ASS tags work, together with how and when to implement them, is absolutely vital to Typesetting and also to AFX. They’re not so useful for the absolute basics, but knowing how to use them will increase your ability enormously.

You can quite quickly learn the very basics of Aegisub, but advancing beyond that level takes many, many hours. If you have patience and perseverence then it’s more than possible to make some truly awesome things happen.

If you want to learn anything beyond basic timing then be prepared to spend 10s-100s of hours learning and refining skills.
If the thought of spending tens of hours just to make a few dots appear for less than half a second is off-putting, or if you have any kind of a social life then you may wish to reconsider learning the more technical aspects of Aegisub.

That said, it is rewarding to sit back and watch your work after struggling for hours. Also, it’s pretty damn funny too see how big and heavy your scripts get when you build up your skills.

The bottom line is this: The only way to learn or improve is to invest soul destroying amounts of time in Aegisub. There are very few guides available, but the manual can teach you all you need to know. Beyond that, you really are limited only by your imagination. If you put in the time you can pull off some truly amazing stuff.

Now don’t say you haven’t heard of Kaizoku-Fansubs before? Then you should feel really ashamed.
Also thanks for telling why the file was so large. I thought it was some kind of encoding mistake on your side or something since your episodes were ~300-400mb max. till now. Well 500mb was a bit much for me because when you save every episode on your external drive and have only 200GB left then every MB counts.

Also the site errors still haven’t stopped for me. Hope you can find a fix for that soon.

@Xenol55 I thought that’s what you meant, but I didn’t quite understand the comparison. Also, I do feel ashamed for knowing of Kaizoku Fansubs.
Anyway, if Toei keep up with the snow effect then there are going to be A LOT of very, very big episodes in the future. Certainly 500MB and maybe even 600MB+ as some episodes are likely to take place almost entirely outside and in heavy snow.

The site errors are the result of upgrades that are beyond our control. They should have stopped by now, or if not they will stop within the next 24-48 hours for sure. Sorry for the trouble.

The CCS-Speed vesion of 585 is not going to be released. There’s no point in releasing a speed sub 2-3 days after the episode aired.

The Kousei version will be released fairly soon, most likely within 24 hours. You can check the progress my mousing over the image of Luffy where it says OP585 @ Kousei on the right of the home page.

CCS-Speed will be released on time and on schedule again next week. We’re sorry for not getting it done this time.
