1080p today hopefully?

Well spotted! Sadly, that doesn’t warrant a V2 as the encode time plus re-QC is just too much. The error can be easily fixed by de-muxing the script, correcting the typo and remuxing the script. Voila.

In order to justify a V2 we would have had to have made a major mistake like overlapping text, a triple line or messed up AFX. Typically, there’ll be 1-3 minor errors per episode, which will be much less than 1% of the episode and is acceptable. We try to keep the number as small as possible, but there is almost always one. That’s life I’m afraid.

From experience there is no “in a nutshell” way to learn typesetting and there is certainly no easy way to learn AFX.
The best advice I can give for typesetting is to start here:

Then move onto this:

Then follow the Typesetting guide from there.
The single most important page is this one: http://docs.aegisub.org/manual/ASS_Tags
Learning and understanding how the ASS tags work, together with how and when to implement them, is absolutely vital to Typesetting and also to AFX.

For AFX you must learn all of the above for Typesetting and then move on to Karaoke Timing: http://docs.aegisub.org/manual/Karaoke_Templater_Tutorial_1

You can quite quickly learn how to make letters shrink and grow etc. but it will take you a significant amount of time before you can actually do anything even close to impressive.
If the thought of spending tens of hours just to make a few dots appear for less than half a second is off-putting, or if you have any kind of a social life then you may wish to reconsider learning AFX.

That said, it is rewarding to sit back and watch your work after struggling for hours. Also, it’s pretty damn funny too see how big and heavy your scripts get when you build up your skills.

The bottom line is this: The only way to learn or improve is to invest soul destroying amounts of time in Aegisub. There are very few guides available, but the manual can teach you all you need to know. Beyond that, you really are limited only by your imagination. If you put in the time you can pull off some truly amazing stuff.

having “some” problems with playback of the 1080p version of this one. the playback won’t start at all :/
did you guys change something in the codec or something?
I don’t have the same problem with the other 1080p episodes. it works fine with VLC tho :/ not that i like using it. i have vertified the torrent and did even run it with Animechecker (it checks if the CRC code is correct if the CRC is in the name (it was correct, meaning i had the how file with no errors))

any way to fix this little problem?

Both Mew and myself encountered the same problem, so we fiddled with settings and eventually just re-encoded. Same problem.
Which is crazy because absolutely no settings were changed and the episode played smoothly on Ben’s computer.
Also, crucially, the episode played perfectly on my PS3 which is the device the .mp4 encodes are intended for.

I doubt it will make any difference, but I’m going to update and restart my PC and everything on it to see if it’ll help.
In the meantime, as you say, VLC certainly does play it so if you only use your PC to watch then that’s the one to go for.
If we have the same problem next week, then we might put the FHD on hold until we can figure it out. Sorry for the bother. : )
